Paragliding All Year Round in Aspen

Did you know that you can go paragliding all year round in Aspen? That’s right, for those of you who really want to feel the freedom of flight, jump off a mountain with these paragliding professionals. Once you have selected your Aspen Vacation Rental, you may want to check out this amazing paragliding business.

Access & Rates:  A tandem flight costs $225.  The experience includes a ride up Aspen Mountain to the launch sites in the comfort of a 4×4 company vehicle. They supply transportation from the landing zone back to their shop in downtown Aspen.

“With no prior experience necessary, you can soar the skies over Aspen with a professional USHPA Certified Tandem Pilot from Aspen Mountain.  This unique sensation of free flight and a breathtaking panoramic view is absolutely unforgettable (cost is $225 per person; allow 2 hours round trip.)

Paragliding enables one to realize the incredible joy of flight in its simplest form.  A soaring aircraft, a paraglider is transportable in a backpack. It is easy to lift off and fly from mountainsides and gentle slopes. With just a few running steps to assist the pilot, the launch is precise and truly exhilarating.  (There is no “jumping off“ of the mountain.)”

Using tandem paragliders, the pilot and passenger are seated in separate harnesses but attached together, front and back.  The glider is designed to accommodate two people without sacrificing performance or security.  During launch, the student passenger must run a short distance down a gentle slope (10-30 ft.) to assist the pilot. With this forward momentum, the glider gently lifts the pilot and passenger from the ground.   The entire experience takes approximately two hours.  Flights vary depending on the conditions of each day.  With favorable thermal conditions, the pilot may choose to maneuver the glider and utilize the air currents to gain several thousand feet above Aspen Mountain.  Achieving altitudes up to 18,000 feet is not uncommon!  Ages range from 3 to 80 (+) years old.  Virtually anyone can fly!
